Passengers on British Airways can soon enjoy high-speed wifi onboard free of charge following a recent agreement involving Elon Musk's space company.

No-cost plus Quick Wifi Across the Board

The carrier revealed that this complimentary, “reliable and lightning-fast” connectivity offering through SpaceX will be offered to customers in economy, business, and first class from next month.

Widespread Implementation Across Several Flight Operators

The holding organization for BA, IAG, confirmed it had secured an agreement involving the satellite firm to offer wifi coverage across 500-plus jets within the group's operators, including Aer Lingus, the Spanish carrier, and the low-cost airline.

Seamless Internet starting at Boarding through Arrival

The airline explained that the introduction for the system was part of a multi-billion pound “upgrade” plan that will offer uninterrupted wifi access for flyers from the gate to arrival, including when they are flying above seas and far-off locations.

Travelers may hook up multiple devices and do not have to use a unique login.

“Gamechanging for us as well as our customers, enhancing their experience during flights our flights by offering them seamless connectivity from start to finish.”

Present Internet Offerings

Basic connectivity service remains offered for British Airways flyers on the majority of the airline's aircraft through its .air platform.

Participants of the airline's reward scheme may transmit texts and text-based correspondence during flights at no cost, while passengers who want to stream music, movies, or movies on their travel and are not travelling in business or first might pay between four pounds ninety-nine and twenty-one pounds ninety-nine for one internet plan.

The Satellite Network

The provider operates a constellation comprising thousands with spacecraft and it's operated by the billionaire's aerospace firm.

Latest Upgrades for BA

The airline's management has been working to turn operations back following a long time with cost cutting, system failures, industrial action, and large-scale layoffs.

British Airways noted that implementation with smart technology had helped them to reach its on-time performance at peak performance from 2012.

Financial Performance

Earlier this year, the carrier reported a rise in financial performance during the first half of this year, helping to push IAG’s earnings upward.

IAG is set to announce its financial performance covering the quarter this summer shortly.

Additional SpaceX Deals

The airline's news comes shortly after telecom provider Virgin Media O2 said it was teaming up with SpaceX to enhance mobile network service in rural parts of the UK, enabling users to automatically hook up mobile devices via orbiting devices when no regular network coverage is available.
