Patriots Equal Longest Winning Streak Since Tom Brady Years with Win Over Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five touchdowns in the present year
New England matched their longest winning run since the Tom Brady era as they defeated division opponents the Jets by 13 points in professional football
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the Patriots secured an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Drake Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
Victory bolsters the Patriots lead at the summit of the AFC East as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the New York at the foot after dropping to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to finish the Jets' initial series
But the New England responded in the second period as Henderson ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third period to push the score to 21-7
"It was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He wants to be outstanding."
Fields threw to John Metchie late in the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots sealed the win
