I cannot rely on three full seasons at Man Utd - Amorim

the United manager

United's manager - seen receiving consolation following May's European final loss - notes he is satisfied by Sir Jim Ratcliffe's long-term backing but underscored that the future is unpredictable in the sport.

United's manager Ruben Amorim feels it's significant the co-owner went public with his long-term thoughts - but states nothing is guaranteed about tomorrow in football, never mind three seasons.

During a discussion with a major publication in recent days, Ratcliffe said it could take the head coach a three-year period to make a significant impact at Old Trafford.

Emerging in an era when Amorim's future has been facing examination in the wake of a lengthy stretch of disappointing results, the comments helped quell some of the immediate pressure.

However, talking ahead of the 100th meeting with traditional foes Liverpool at Anfield, Amorim underscored that tomorrow is difficult to forecast in the beautiful game.

"It is really good to receive that message but he tells me all the time, occasionally through communication after games - but understand, I realize and Ratcliffe understands, that the sport isn't that predictable," he said.

"The most important thing is the upcoming match. Regardless of investors, you cannot manage tomorrow in soccer."

Top executive Berrada has conceded it has required far longer for Amorim to adapt to the top division after his transfer from Sporting Lisbon last November than anybody anticipated.

The Red Devils have secured 10 victories in 34 Premier League matches under the 40-year-old. They still haven't achieved two league games in a row and didn't complete a round of league games during this campaign better than ninth place.

The concerning numbers are challenging confidence in Amorim among the Red Devils supporters heading into a run of games the side has performed poorly in for the previous two campaigns.

United's boss commented he does not feel the instability inside the club at their training facility and is insistent nothing compares to the pressure he applies to his players - and in some senses, he would choose Sir Jim to avoid attempting to create tranquility because he worries the impact it could have on the team.

"It's not just a thing that people talk about, I sense it every day," he remarked. "It's truly positive to receive it because it assists our supporters to comprehend the administration know it is going to take a period.

"However simultaneously, I'm not fond of it because it creates an impression that we possess time to work things out. I don't desire that feeling in our team.

"The stress I place on the squad or on myself is significantly greater [than that from outside]. In football, specifically at large organizations, you need to prove your value every weekend."
