An aircraft soaring above a popular California beach unexpectedly started spinning wildly, finally dropping height and crashing into a row of palm trees as beachgoers observed.

Footage shared on social media show the aircraft starting to spin above the beach then falling in the direction of the edge of the coast, where it ends up lodged amidst palm groves and a steps adjacent to the Pacific Coast highway.

First Aid Information

Local firefighters said five individuals were taken to hospital including two who were in the chopper and were “extracted safely from the crash site” following the crash on Saturday.

Three people on the street were hurt. Details on their condition were not immediately available.

The cause of the crash was not immediately released.

The department said the chopper was linked to an yearly “Cars N Copters” fundraising event set for Sunday.
